This isn’t the age of spies. This is not even the age of heroes. This is the age of miracles… and there’s nothing more horrifying than a miracle.

Marvel: Phase 3
I’m a huge Marvel fan since Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman and I have no problem with Benedict Cumberbatch being Dr. Strange. But the way most people are reacting to this makes me shameful and embarrassed for being part of this fandom, let alone Tumblr.
I’ve seen what some of you have said about…
Jean Grey didn’t die for this.
hydra is a nazi group in both 616 and mcu, and this is particularly clear when we remember that captain america was literally created as wwii american propaganda and is an allegory of american troops in europe, and hydra is the corresponding allegorical nazis (except they’re not even allegorical, they are explicitly about nazi ideology)
hydra is about the global proliferation of nazi ideology — that is their goal both in 616 and in mcu. stop pretending it’s not because you’re so desperate to be an uncritical fan that you’re willing to ignore nazism and the history of the comics and characters you claim to love. also, you know, neo-nazis and neo-nazi organizations are real and still around, kids, this isn’t exactly without historical and current political basis.
if you make hydra jokes, cosplay as hydra members, or say ‘hail hydra’ as a cute lil quip, you’re making light of nazism. hydra’s fictional but the ideology they fictionally promote is very real and has proven itself to be dangerous and insidious. and you’re all joking about it.
just so we’re all clear on this.
